) DICTIONARY PROGRAMAn $18 (retail value) hardbound dictionary is given to every 3rd grader within the Vallejo City Unified School
District (VCUSD) and private schools located in Vallejo. This $17-18K expense is made possible from Rotary’s
Annual "Ducky Derby" ticket sales, donation from members and other fund raising efforts.
Other expenses include: printing stickers & letters which go inside 1,700 - 1,800 dictionaries at a cost of about
$400. Rotary Club members assemble dictionary, and in groups, hand delivery books to every third grade
classroom in Vallejo.
2) YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
or "Camp Royal"Seven Vallejo high students, at a cost of $3,850, participate in week long program of learning leadership skills
at an outdoor camp facility in Northern California with hundred of other youths from 65 clubs of Rotary
District 5160.
3) YOUTH SCHOLARSHIPS
Our service club provides 6 graduating high school students with scholarships to help them with their first
year of college expenses. A $5,500 well-spent "investment" in our future Vallejo citizens.
4. GRAD & FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE, SPECIAL "GIFTS" AND OTHERS
For years our Vallejo Rotary club have contributed funds that amounts to $400 to Grad Nite, Friday Night
Live, and programs to help students enjoy "healthy peer" activities. Students from Maritime Academy and
music student get watches at a value of $500 to our service club.
In additional, our club has supported a "Breakfast Club" program that provides breakfast to Vallejo Middle
School students and safe environment to do homework before school starts. The club is run by the First
Presbyterian Church at 1350 Amador Street, right across the street from Vallejo Middle School.
ANNUAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS: *
